Cultivating a meditation practice is, more often than not, easier said than done. Have you heard that cultivating a meditation practice would support you in overcoming anxiety, managing stress, lowering blood pressure? Did you know that mindfulness and meditation can help with insomnia, and may improve memory and focus? Your physician or therapist may have even told you to try one of these beneficial practices. Did you make an attempt only to become frustrated and wonder whether or not you were even "doing it right"? Convinced that you just can't learn to meditate? Think again!


Join us Sunday, September 15th, from 3pm-5pm at Painted Lotus Yoga & Wellness in Tuscaloosa for Intro to Mindfulness & Meditation. Allow us to debunk myths and demystify this powerful and impactful practice for you. Our workshop will explore both the differences between, and intersections of, mindfulness & meditation as well as numerous ways to experience them, including yoga nidra, mantra, moving meditation, using a focal point and more!

Learn what happens in the brain and body when you engage in these practices regularly. Alongside the evidence-based research into the efficacy of theses practices we will discuss the roots of the practice from a yogic perspective. We’ll journey beyond the postural and breathing practices presented in most mainstream yoga classes and into the territory of deep relaxation and spiritual sustenance. 


No previous experience required! Expect to be seated and/or lying down for most of this workshop. Folding chairs are available as well as bolsters, blankets, eye pillows and yoga mats. Feel free to bring additional pillows, mediation cushions, or anything that will allow you to be more comfortable during our time together. Dress comfortably as there will be some brief, gentle movement practices offered.
